River Country and
Farm Country
The west side of the county asks different things of a gutter
Along the St. Johns
Julington Creek, RiverTown, and the River Lots
- Homes facing the river and the creeks take rain off open water. Steady pitch and tight hanger spacing keep it moving to the downspout instead of over the back edge.
- Mature oaks and pines line the older streets around Julington Creek. That is a lot of leaves and needles, and the job gutter guards were made for.
- Newer RiverTown streets have young trees but full storm-season rain. Downspouts sized for a summer afternoon matter more than guards there.
Golf and Farmland
World Golf Village to Hastings
- Metal roofs on farm-country homes shed water fast enough to overshoot a small gutter. A larger gutter set to catch the sheet of water keeps it off the siding.
- Golf course lots around World Golf Village get the occasional stray ball. A dented corner is a gutter repair, not a new system.
- Flat, open lots hold water after a storm. An underground drain carries roof water out instead of letting it sit at the slab.

What St. Johns County Homeowners Ask Us

When is the best time of year to replace gutters?
Winter and early spring, before afternoon storms start and well ahead of hurricane season. A seamless gutter installation done then is ready for the first big rain.
Should gutters be cleaned before hurricane season?
Yes. Hurricane season runs June 1 through November 30, and a clogged gutter can’t move storm rain. A late-spring gutter cleaning and another in the fall cover most homes.
Does a metal roof need different gutters?
It needs gutters sized and set for it. Water sheets off metal fast and can shoot past a small gutter, so a larger profile set to catch it works best, with downspouts or an underground drain to carry it away.
Do gutter guards stop pine needles?
The right ones do. Fine mesh gutter guards keep needles and oak tassels out that slip through larger screens. You’ll still rinse them now and then, but full cleanouts mostly go away.
Do you repair gutters or only replace them?
Both. One leaking corner or a sagging run is a gutter repair. If the system leaks at every seam, we’ll tell you replacing it costs less than chasing leaks.
